What's good FitFam!
Have you ever heard or used the phrase, "Sleep is for the weak?"
I know I have! (Unfortunately)
I understand that the GRIND is real, and sometimes we are so focused on getting things done or enjoying the night life. However, how do we feel the next day without getting an adequate amount of rest? I remember those ALL NIGHTERS in college! BRUH! Yes, I might have been able to get a ton of things done, but I was sure to be out of commission the following day. Or how about those late Saturday nights. KNOWING you had church in the morning. All in the back yawning and nodding off.
The truth is WE NEED SLEEP! Sleep plays a vital role in good health and well-being throughout your life. According to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, getting enough quality sleep at the right times can help protect your mental health, physical health, quality of life, and safety. If you do not get enough sleep, you may suffer Sleep Deprivation. This could also lead to the following:
· Irritability
· Lack of Concentration
· Lack of Motivation
· Anxiety
· Lack of Energy
· High Blood Pressure
· Obesity
Am I trying to scare you? Of course not! However, this is an issue that about one in five adults fail to realize (American Academy of Sleep Medicine, 2008). With this information, I challenge YOU to be INTENTIONAL with your sleeping pattern. Put away your phone, turn off the TV and give your body time to REFRESH. The GRIND hit different after some good rest.
